Vaping Cowgrl
Vaping Cowgrl is Organisation General Records in-house band as far as hillbilly punk, alternative country, lofi Americana, blue-eyed soul tunes are involved. The elusive ensemble (no disbanded) are trying their best at emulating some of the V.U.'s approach to recording with an intent at putting needles as far in the red zone as possible on every VU meter. Most of the songs where rehearsed on the spot and put straight to tape before being polished in a DAW. While the recording methods implied heavy repetitions, to get that punch-in you hear on most of Spector's recordings from the 50's. They sure where burning the candle at both ends while in the booth and you can sometime peer through the rawness of the sound and imagine some candle wax dripping straight onto the mixing board and no one noticing it. They sure where dedicated, but this band is not about some vain effort at showcasing rock and roll memorabilia or do they make attempts to evoke nostalgia of any kind. In all it's suburban grittiness, it's cosmic-country with all its charms. Vaping Cowgrl encapsulates in their songs, a feeling more convincing for its authenticity, enclosed by a sentiment of absence, the absence of a real place to love and be truly from. Drifting along highways of mock-up "authentic" American things and a longing to be truly part of something. A place too far, too vast and not dying behind the ocean, this is their version of Americana, if you will. Longing for a place you've never been trying to call it home, this is Vaping Cowgirl's enigma. McDonalds lit by a cement moon above, parking lots deserted, abandoned railroads, an empty night bus taking you nowhere, those images of urban dead ends catch a glimpse of sunlight with playful melodies and riffs, thanks to Vaping Cowgrl's efforts. It's a shame they never played any live show during their short run.
